"Overloaded Indonesian ferry sinks; 4 dead, most survive"

JAKARTA - An overloaded ferry sank in bad weather off Indonesia's Riau islands on Sunday, killing four while nearly 300 passengers survived the accident, officials said.

A transport ministry official told a news conference in Jakarta the ferry, which had the capacity to carry 273 people, had 213 passengers on its manifest. Sunaryo, director general of sea transportation, said 292 people had survived.

"The disparity between the manifest and reality is large, it's such a classic case" of breaking the regulations, said Sunaryo.

"Bad weather is hampering search and rescue efforts. The waves are as high as six metres, it's difficult for small ships to reach the location."

The ferry, the Dumai Express 10, was sailing from Batam near Singapore to Dumai island in Riau when it ran into massive waves, Riau police chief Puji Hartanto told Metro TV.

Survivors were spotted floating at sea, Hartanto said.

Separately, another ferry, the Dumai Express 15 with 278 people on board, ran aground after it was hit by large waves, said Riau police spokesman Yasin Kosasih.

All passengers and crew survived, he added. The ferry was travelling between Batam and Moro island.

Indonesia relies heavily on ferry services to connect the many islands in the sprawling archipelago.

But accidents are common, largely due to years of under-investment in infrastructure and a tendency to overload ferries.

Omg,, 2 ferries sink today, and both is from Dumai

Dumai Island -- my hometown
and 1 of the owner of the ferry was in the ferry Dumai Express 10
and he was pronounced dead...
and he is 1 of my father's friend
and he is quite famous in Dumai which is where i living now,
the wave is seriously crazy..

Just come back from supper
Took my bro computer secretly

today we went my bro restaurant,
but because its late already,
it only left a few things to eat, so we decided to go somewhere else

But NOT that shop i mention the 1st time
this is the other one ALSO CALLED CONSPIRACY
But they just add X-Treme behind
Called "CONSPIRACY X-TREME"
The shop i mentioned 1st time is called "CONSPIRACY" only
wow so cool~ hahaha
Conspiracy X-treme is smaller than Conspiracy
but the things they sell is kinda same
clothes, school bags, pierce ear hole de, also got tongue hole, haha

But cant see the X-Treme part haha
I bought a school bag from them $22
will use it for school of coz :)
I used my own money to buy lei
now my rupiah left few only,,,
I want to go the other conspiracy
i will ask my bro to bring me there.
But i won't buy again..

After shopping, went supper at 1 Jap Cafe
What i can say is..
Our school canteen de chicken katsu tastier than that Cafe
LOL i am serious.

Yo, i am back to blog.
I just wanna say,
i miss Singapore, i miss school, I miss my friends.
Weather in Indo is really bad,
everybody is sick.
Even my sis who is currently carrying a baby in her stomach caught a cold
my bro can't stop coughing, my friend got fever, even my niece also
i got cold few days ago but lucky i am completely recover now

And i found a really interesting thing
got this shop in indo(i mean the city i living)
which sell fashion clothe for boy/man
maybe for girl/women also got.
this shop is called *CONSPIRACY*
I think only people who knows 2PM
will know what i mean.
When i saw the name of the shop
i was like wow~~ conspiracy
and it reminds me of Jaebum who is not in 2PM anymore
maybe he will come back? no one knows
i am not expecting him to come back anymore
but i hope he will,,
I shall go to that shop one day, hahaha
i wonder why they call that shop conspiracy.

I watched bleach le, very nice,
but honestly i prefer One piece.
But i will continue watching,
i like Rukia, she is so funny!
I will share about it with Keyun when i go back sg, hehe

In my hometown now,
i caught a cold..
the weather here is really bad.. T__T
Just came back 2 days, sick alrdy,, haiss,,
